The Nomads Golf Club. What an incredible institution we are all priviledged to be a part of! It has been an honour to be at the
helm of the Club over the past year and I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. When embarking on the journey I really did
not have any specific objectives in mind, save to continue the good work done by my predecessors and to ensure that I dedicate Hannes Pretorius Wernher Bock Marianne Bryant
as much time as possible to the Club.

The journey began on Friday 17 March 2023, fairly late in the evening, when I was handed the Light Blue Jacket by Neill Malher- hannes@hpbb.co.za bock@hpbb.co.za
be. A very uncharchteristic short speech followed and I was on my way. My first official engagement was on Monday at Sun City
for the Girls Rose Bowl. It is here where you witness the contribution that Nomads make to amateur golf in South Africa - all 083 400 9992 082 802 7168
achieved from the dedication of our members and volunteers at Golforama.
At the end of March I was privildged to witness history in the making at the Nomads Boys Under 19 at Pecanwood. This four
round event was won by Daniel Bennett on a record equalling 34 under par, and breaking several other long standing records in
the process. Once again the GolfRSA staff were present and put together a magnificent tournament. It was also an opportunity
to bump into Andy Ostle and his dedicated team doing work and looking
after their SA Development players who also compete at the same event.
I must confess that one objective I did set myself was not to end up
with a Matchbox at an official monthly game. I played an unofficial
monthly game in Southern Natal at Margate around Easter and left there Danie Jordaan
unscathed with 26 points. I also managed to escape my first Gauteng
monthly game at Reading with 29 points. I was fortunate to be paired Criminal Law, Insurance
with Sunshine Tour Commissioner, Thomas Abt that day and I went on Law & General Litigation
to induct Thomas into Gauteng Nomads that evening.
Paying a visit to each South African Club is an integral part of one’s danie@hpbb.co.za
